Law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies constantly strive to improve services and programs. Unfortunately, budget restrictions can limit those efforts. We recognize this challenge and provide this information to assist in identifying potential funding for projects.
The Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Formula Grant is awarded to states to help improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science and medical examiner/coroner services. Among other things, funds may be used to eliminate a backlog in the analysis of forensic evidence and to train and employ forensic laboratory personnel, as needed, to eliminate such a backlog.
The COPS School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) solicitation is being announced as an open competition for all states, units of local government, Indian tribes, and public agencies to receive funding to improve security at schools and on school grounds. Funding is limited and this solicitation is expected to be very competitive. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit an application that demonstrates a comprehensive approach to school safety.
The purpose of the Innovative Prosecution Solutions Program is to provide state, local, and tribal prosecutors with information, resources, and training and technical assistance (TTA) to develop effective strategies and programs to address and prosecute individuals who commit violent crime.
The OJJDP FY 2019 Opioid Affected Youth Initiative will fund sites to develop a data-driven coordinated response to identify and address challenges resulting from opioid abuse that are impacting youth and community safety.
